Students from the Spring 2008 Software Engineering course announce the official release of the software they developed for the course. The team of Kory Kirk, John McCoey and Andrew Chicadel developed NovaMail, an add-on for the Firefox web brower that automates the task of checking a user's Villanova web mail. Lead developer Kory Kirk improved the application after the semester concluded and arranged with Mozilla.org to post the add-on for public distribution. More...
Dr. Lillian Cassel chaired the Posters and Demonstration track of the 2008 Joint Conference on Digital Libraries (Pittsburgh - June 16 -19). JCDL had a wonderful collection of posters and demonstrations this year and Dr. Cassel reports that it was a pleasure to work with the presenters. More...

What makes computing the hot major?
According to Money Magazine and a
salary.com survey, software engineering
is at the top of the list of "best jobs". Furthermore,
the Bureau of Labor Statistics lists five computing
jobs (systems software engineer, applications software engineer,
systems analyst, database administrator, network analyst) among
its ten top salary jobs and includes computing in its list
of the fastest growing areas of projected opportunity for the next
