Mission Statement

The Department of Computing Sciences seeks to educate students of all disciplines in the many areas that comprise the field of computing so that they can live in a world of rapidly developing technology, theory, and application that is creating unique academic and social challenges. Its faculty members strive to add to the body of knowledge of computing and to involve students and colleagues in their investigations. These endeavors support Villanova University's academic mission to transmit, pursue, and discover knowledge in an atmosphere of collegiality in the university community. The Department recognizes the critical and complex ethical issues that arise in this changing world, and it supports the university's social mission to develop the total person, one with intellectual curiosity, mature judgment, and commitment to the betterment of society.
