Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek), designated by the U.S. House of Representatives as the week of Grace Murray Hopper’s birthday, recognizes the transformative role of computing and the need to bolster computer science at all educational levels. The Department of Computing Sciences is celebrating this week in numerous ways including information distribution, a movie presentation, student research presentations, and an outreach program.
Throughout the week a group of students, including students from our ACM StudentChapter, will man a table in the Connelly Center and distribute information about computing and our student projects.
On Monday, December 5th, we will hold an outstanding event in Mendel Science Center 101. The event begins with a screening of an interesting interview of Steve Jobs that originally appeared on Sixty Minutes. This will be followed by presentations by two student research groups who are reprising presentations they gave at last summer's Worldcomp Conference. Doorprizes and refreshments will be provided so be sure not to miss this event.
During this important week we will also launch our initial collaboration of the year with the Julia De Burgos Middle Scholl Technical Program.
